Marijuana and other plants require a lot of nutrients to grow properly and produce flowers (buds). Plants produce a lot of nutrients by combining carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2), and sunlight in a process called photosynthesis. Getting a lot of it is possible, however, the plant must have a well-balanced and nutritious diet. Sure, planting a seed in the ground, watering it, giving it enough sunlight will produce a normal harvest, but why not replace "normal" with "maximum"? Sure, you want your buds (yield) to be big, juicy and resinous. If so, you should invest in a proper feeding schedule for your plants.
Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are the three most important nutrients for marijuana. During the growth (vegetative) stage, the plant uses a significant amount of nitrogen, but during the flowering stage, phosphorus and potassium are used more predominantly.
