Dinafem are pioneers in cannabis seed preservation. After forming the company in 2002, they soon realized that improvements were needed in storing seeds in paper/foil envelopes or in sturdy plastic containers. After all, paper envelopes do not protect seeds from crushing or from changes in humidity. Additionally, clear plastic containers do not prevent light damage to seeds, and without proper sealing, they do not guarantee consistent humidity levels.
Dinafem uses packaging that protects the seeds from crushing and damage from light; an outer metal container contains a clear plastic jar, which in turn contains the seeds. This jar is a common laboratory jar, often used to store liquid samples; it has a lid that can be tightly closed, making it ideal for storing seeds.
Dinafem's next advancement in seed preservation is micro-preservation systems and temperature and humidity control.
Temperature is easily controlled through refrigerators, which are commonly used by both distributors and retailers to ensure the freshness and viability of seeds.
Humidity control is as important as temperature control, but it is more difficult to regulate. It changes more often, mainly depending on temperature changes.
During storage prior to sale, all Dinafem seeds are kept in a refrigerated environment. This helps maintain a constant temperature. Inside the packages, Dinafem uses a micro-preservation system to manage humidity levels. A small amount of color-changing silica gel is added to the seeds. Although the jar lids are tightly sealed and moisture cannot enter or evaporate, the color-changing silica gel indicates that excess moisture has entered by turning blue from orange as it absorbs moisture. If the gel remains orange, you can be sure that any seeds you purchase from Dinafem have been professionally stored at the correct humidity level.
